School of Law, Sandip University has organized a guest lecture of Prof. Dr. Shashikala Gurpu, Director, Symbiosis Law School, Fulbright Scholar, USA and Member of 19th Law Commission of India on the topic 'Emerging Human Rights in The Era of Science and Technology'.
Vice Chancellor, Sandip University, Col. Prof. N. Ramachandran along with Dean, School of Law, Prof. Dr. D.M Jadhav and distinguished faculty members and deans of various Schools of Sandip University attended the programme.
Dr. Shashikala Gurpur brought about a correlation of concept of justice with Human Rights. She also expressed the concern over the violation of Human Rights in the name of Clinical trials by Pharmaceutical Companies. She emphasized upon the sustainable development as the way out.
She also emphasized upon the need on the part of the government to use the provisions of compulsory licensing in order to bring the essential life saving drugs within the reach of common men.
She also brought about the threat of genetically modified crops on the fertility of the land. She stressed upon taking recourse to "Access and Benefit Sharing" provisions in order to protect the traditional knowledge of indigenous community.
Dr. Yedekar guided the students on how to prepare for Civil service examinations including examination conducted for Civil Judge (Jr. Div.) and JMFC. He also inaugurated Outcome Based Education workshop organized by Sandip University. Guest Lecture was followed by question and answer session.Outcome of the Program:
Students got informed about various do's and don'ts while preparing for Civil service and other Competitive Examination.
