Professor, Ph.D., Dept. of Civil. Engg.
School of Engineering & Technology, Sandip University.
It gives me an immense pleasure and great opportunity to introduce Department of Fire and Safety Engineering under School of Engineeringand Technology (SOET) in Sandip University, Nashik (SUN).The department established in the year 2018, is currently running under graduate (UG) programme. The department has well qualified and committed faculty to guide and mentor the students’ community.
The curriculum of the department is more student centric and focused on outcome based education (OBE) pattern, with a flexibility of modifying and updating the syllabi of the courses as per the need and requirements of the society/industry. The department has excellent state-of- the–art laboratories for performing practical and carrying out testing and consultancy work for industries/organizations.
In the changing scenario, nowadays expectations of industries are ever increasing, which is a major challenge faced by the institutes. To bridge this gap and cater the needs of industries as well as make the students employable and industry ready, department in its curriculum has introduced minor courses and foreign languages. This not only will help for the holistic development of the students, but also will bring an avenue to build-up a professional career in the corporate world. Another major advantage is that the UG students will go with an additional specialization along with his regular degree in Fire and Safety Engineering.
The department is always keen and organizes industrial visits, expert talks and training programmes for students and faculty to keep abreast their knowledge and skills due to advancement in technology. In-order to gain an industrial exposure, internship to the students is made mandatory which definitely will prepare the students to be industry ready. For this department has taken an initiative to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with different industries under University Industry Interaction Cell (UIIC). The faculty members along with UG students generally undertake live industrial problems and provide concrete solution which certainly speaks about the research culture in the department which is the prime motive.
With this, I would like to extend my heart felt gratitude and best wishes to the entire fraternity and request every individual to be the part of our SUN family.
