Sandip University, Nashik | Established: Academic Year 2023–24
The Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (CIKS) at Sandip University was established in the academic year 2023–24 to create a dedicated platform in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, to integrate India’s rich intellectual and cultural heritage into contemporary education and research.
The Centre is committed to exploring and promoting various disciplines rooted in Indian traditions, such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Vastu Shastra, Indian mathematics, astronomy, linguistics, philosophy, ethics, political science (Chanakya Niti), sustainable living practices, textile design, and classical arts.
It recognizes that Indian Knowledge Systems are inherently linked to modern academic disciplines and are not separate from them; rather, they are deeply interwoven with fields such as science, technology, health, governance, architecture, and design. By promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, CIKS supports departments, committees, and student organizations in embedding elements of Indian Knowledge Systems into their academic, administrative, and extracurricular initiatives.
The Centre facilitates this through a variety of activities, including lectures, seminars, workshops, community engagement, digital archives, and student-led projects.
Ultimately, the Centre envisions the revival of India’s timeless wisdom in a contextually relevant, research-driven manner that resonates globally, fostering a sense of rootedness, innovation, and cultural pride among learners.
