The B.Sc. Beauty Cosmetology students of the School of Design successfully conducted an engaging design-thinking simulation, “Design Apocalypse: 90 Minutes to Save the World,” on 13 August 2026 as part of International Youth Day celebrations. The initiative reflected the spirit of “Youth for Youth, by the Youth,” encouraging young minds to take the lead in creating meaningful solutions for future challenges.

Students were presented with a fictional 2045 crisis where electricity and internet were unavailable, plastic was banned, water was limited, and millions of people needed immediate assistance. Working in teams, students were assigned missions such as Food, Water, Shelter, Healthcare, Transportation, Communication, Clothing, Waste Management, Children, Elderly, Accessibility, and Energy.

Each team had 90 minutes to understand the crisis, identify user needs, brainstorm, and develop a practical design solution using principles of design thinking, sustainability, empathy, innovation, and inclusive design.

The activity encouraged creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and social responsibility, demonstrating how design can respond to complex real-world challenges.
