The School of Design successfully organized a Fabric Art Workshop titled “Transforming Fabric into Fantasies” on the occasion of National Handloom Day, celebrated on 7th August 2025.

This creative and engaging event was made possible with the continuous support and guidance of our respected OSD Prof. Vivek Nikam Sir, under the visionary leadership of our respected dean Prof Dr. Vibha Kapoor Ma’am and our dedicated Design HoD Dr. Taruna Rajpurohit Ma’am, and Beauty Cosmetology HoD Dr. Rajashree Saoji Ma’am.

The workshop was conducted by Ms. Akruti Awinashe (Assistant Professor, School of Design), and focused on showcasing the art and craft of handloom through hands-on learning. As part of the activity, students enthusiastically designed and created unique masks using handloom fabrics, blending traditional textiles with modern design concepts.

This experience not only encouraged creativity and innovation but also deepened students’ appreciation for India’s rich handloom heritage. The session beautifully combined art, culture, and sustainability—allowing students to express themselves through fabric while honoring the essence of National Handloom Day.
