The Ministry of Ayush sponsored National Symposium on “Advances in Natural Products Research Methodology” is a unique initiative by School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sandip University, Nashik Maharashtra to cater the needs of researchers and academicians working in the field of Natural and Ayurvedic drug development. Natural Products, especially from plants, are the backbone of Prophylaxis and Therapeutics in Traditional Medicine. Despite their existence and continued use over many centuries, and their popularity and extensive use in the last few decades, it has not been officially recognized in most countries. Quality, Safety and Efficacy data (as per ICH) are far from sufficient to meet the criteria needed to support their use worldwide. The reason for the lack of research data is mainly due to a lack of adequate and accepted research methodology for evaluating natural drugs. The objective of the National Symposium is to provide a common platform for creating awareness among the fraternity about the importance of medicinal plant drugs, dissemination of proven results of R&D works in Natural and AYUSH drugs, comprehensive interaction among stakeholders of medicinal plant drugs, igniting research temper in participants/budding faculty members and deliberations on latest developments in Natural Products Research methodology.
