SWAYAM PRABHA Free DTH Channel for Education
The SWAYAM PRABHA is a group of 32 DTH channels devoted to telecasting of high-quality educational programmes on 24X7 basis using the GSAT-15 satellite. Every day, there will be new content for at least 4 hours which would be repeated 5 more times in a day, allowing the students to choose the time of their convenience. The channels are uplinked from BISAG, Gandhinagar. The contents are provided by NPTEL, IITs, digital-cell, CEC, IGNOU, NCERT and NIOS. The INFLIBNET Centre maintains the web portal.
The Digital Learning Monitoring Cell of Sandip University Nashik (SUN) inaugurated the “SWAYAM PRABHA”-Educational Contents through DTH channel. The Inaugural function was graced by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Col. Prof. N. Ramachandran. Deans, Staff and Students of various Schools were attended the induction ceremony. SWAYAM PRABHA is conceived as a group of 32 DTH channels devoted to telecasting of high-quality educational programmes on 24 × 7 basis using GSAT-15 satellite. The contents are provided by NPTEL, IIT’s, digital-cell, IGNOU, NCERT and NIOS.
The objective of “SUN Digital Learning Monitoring Cell” is to provide high quality educational content to all teachers and students of Sandip University through “SWAYAM PRABHA DTH channel”. The objective of DTH channels is to cover Higher education’s curriculum based contents at post-graduate and under-graduate levels covering diverse disciplines such as arts, science, commerce, social sciences, humanities, engineering technology, medicine, agriculture etc. and the channel also provides the contents for school education, curriculum based courses for life-long learners of India and abroad and also assist the students to prepare for competitive exams.
SWAYAM
It is an indigenously designed massive open online course (MOOC), It will host all the courses, taught in classrooms from 9th class till post-graduation and can be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time. It aims to bridge the digital divide for students in e-education. SWAYAM platform is indigenously developed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) with the help of Microsoft and would be ultimately capable of hosting 2000 courses and 80000 hours of learning: covering school, under-graduate, post-graduate, engineering, law and other professional courses. SWAYAM is a programme initiated by the Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality.

National digital library(NDL), will help students to access more than 80 lakh digital resources at no cost in English and the Indian languages.

Every institution to adopt at least 5 villages and help in translating their knowledge for the use of the rural poor.
Smart Campus
Every campus shall plan for efficient and economical use of water, electricity and waste. Use of solar power and water recycling systems may be planned for, as they would bring sustainability and savings in the long run.
Innovation Drives
Students may be encouraged to think out-of-the-box and arrive at solutions that are innovative. For this competitions may be organised for all students covering various areas. Every institution should try to participate in hackathons that are being organised by various agencies, apart from Govt.
Plan for future
Every institution should plan for the future. They should constitute a group within the campus for preparing a 15-year vision, a 7-year strategic plan, a 3-year action plan.
