The Directorate of Student Welfare (DSW) led by the Director Students’ Welfare serves as the cornerstone for nurturing holistic student development in alignment with the University's vision of nurturing future-ready professionals steeped in Indian values and equipped with global perspective.
The DSW is committed to creating a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive campus environment where students can reach their full potential. In order to ensure students' overall well-being, the Directorate provides guidance, mentorship, and resources that allow them to succeed academically, emotionally, socially, and physically. The university offers career counseling, mental health services, sports, and leadership opportunities that enrich student life and cultivate excellence.
To foster learning that leads to lifelong growth, the Directorate works closely with faculty, student bodies, and administration to foster innovation and collaboration. Student Council

Sandip University has established a Student Council, led by the Director of Student Welfare, to enrich the student experience and promote overall development. The council focuses on aligning its activities with the vision of Student Welfare, emphasizing student engagement, leadership, and skill development. Serving on the council provides students with invaluable experience in communication, decision-making, and problem-solving, which is essential for their personal and professional growth.
Selection Process and Structure
The Director of Student Welfare initiates the formation of the Student Council each year by
releasing an open call for interested students. Those who apply undergo a council selection
interview conducted by the student council selection panel. The panel consists of domain-specific mentors. The committee members elect the University Student Council, with the Director of Student Welfare serving as the presiding officer for the process.
Procedure for Student Council Selections
The Students’s Council consists of the seven major positions. Every year a notification is released from the Office of Registrar in the month of February-March. This notification is circulated to all the Schools/departments. Individual departments in all the Schools select their Class representative for each class. Thereafter, Class Representatives (CRs) who are interested in contesting for these posts can fill their application, and the final selections are based on active involvement in student clubs and forums.
The seven positions for the Student Council include:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Joint Secretary
- Ladies Representative
- Cultural Secretary
- Sports Secretary
In addition, Executive Member Positions for each of the respective schools are also available.
Eligibility Criteria
To ensure fair participation and representation, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Candidate Eligibility- Must be a current Class Representative (CR).
- Must have demonstrated active involvement in student clubs and forums
- Should not have any disciplinary
- Female candidates are eligible to contest for the Ladies Representative post
- All Class Representatives and club governing body members are eligible to vote for council positions.
Selection Committee
The Selection Committee consists of the Director Students’ Welfare as the Presiding officer along with:
- DSW coordinators (From each of the 7 schools).
- Administration representatives.
- Non-contesting CRs (for assistance).
The Selection Committee will ensure transparency and fairness throughout the process.
Phases of the Selection Process
- Phase 1: Notification of Students’ Council
- Phase 2: Expression of Interest (EOI)
- Phase3:Scrutinyand shortlisting
- Phase 4: Candidate Presentations
- Phase 5: Voting Process
- Phase 6: Counting and Declaration of Results
The Committee will count votes under strict supervision. Winners for each position will be declared based on majority votes. Results will be published within 24 hours of the voting process.
Selection Focus: Active Involvement in Clubs and Forums
Active participation in student clubs and forums will carry significant weight in the shortlisting process. Contributions such as leadership roles, event organization, and participation records will be reviewed.
Code of Conduct for Candidates
All candidates must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Maintain respectful behavior during presentations and Violation of rules may result in disqualification after review by the Selection
Dispute Resolution Mechanism
A dedicated grievance redressal team will handle complaints related to nominations, or results. Appeals must be made in writing within 48 hours of any dispute

Objectives of Student Council
The Main objectives of Sandip University Student Council are to:
- Represent student interests to the administration, acting as a bridge for grievances and policy feedback.
- Promote leadership and teamwork through clubs, cultural events, and sports activities, fostering skills like self-confidence and discipline.
- Organize extracurricular programs (cultural festivals, technical events, sports competitions) to enhance holistic development.
- Support academic and career growth by collaborating with placement cells and industry-aligned initiatives.
- Foster inclusivity and cultural awareness through events that highlight global diversity and social responsibility.
- Encourage ethical values and citizenship, aligning with the university’s mission to nurture responsible leaders.
- Strengthen communication between students, faculty, and administration via structured forums and grievance mechanisms.

Student-Run Clubs and Professional Chapters
The council oversees a variety of student-run clubs, each related to diverse areas such as technical skills, culture, innovation, outreach, and professional development. These clubs organize hands-on projects, workshops, conferences, and consultations, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings. Some of the Flagship events are: Sandipotsav, Ganeshotsav, Rangotsav, Patang Utsav, Diwali, Dandiya-garba Utsav, and Sports Fest.
Representation in Competitions and Events
Every year, the council organizes teams representing Sandip University at national and international competitions, paper and project presentations, hackathons, conferences, and volunteering services. This promotes the university and gives students a platform to showcase their talents and expand their horizons. Some of the Flagship events are NASA Hackathon, INSIGHT, MERAKI, ENTHUSIA, SOPCON etc.
