At this eco-friendly sculpting workshop, students indulged in artistry and environmental consciousness
Sandip University’s School of Fashion Design, Beauty Cosmetology & Interior Design (SOFDBC&ID) ,an eco-friendly sculpting workshop became the talk of the town. When you walk in unprepared, the many hands already at work inspire you. A perfectly molded and painted idol stands blissfully at one the entrance, indicating that you’re walking into the cradle of creativity. Being organized for the first time, the eco-friendly sculpting workshop this year has found many students.
“The most important part is to mix the clay and water and get it in the right proportion,” ” says Miss Monal Kothule, the instructor of the workshop. She demonstrated how to knead it, as her fingers analyzed the texture of the clay. It takes a good 30 minutes to get it right, after which you flatten the clay in the form of a block. There is some chatter as the group moves onto the next step. The idea of dirtying hands in clay and forming the building block of the idol is a happy feeling. Full of enthusiasm, students were deeply involved in the art form. Each one of them paying close attention to the progress of every sculpture. For most of the participants, this is the most environmentally-conscious way to welcome the New Year.
The workshop was free, thanks to generous support from Sandip University with blessings from Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Sinha who gave the vision of exploration to the students and staff of the university. Under the guidance of Dean Dr. Sandeep Prasad, SOFDBC & ID aimed at opening doors to a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow. The school recently organized various programs to create creative platforms with public performances, visual art events, open studios and workshops for the students. SOFDBC&ID wants to create shared experiences in arts and culture, uniting students to learn and grow as a community.
