What Are Your Career Options After Jee Mains?

JEE Main

JEE Mains is one of the most trying entrance exams out there. Thousands of students across the country aspire to crack this exam and kick start their engineering career by enrolling into an IIT. This year only about 11,000 IIT seats are available for engineering and architecture students, and another 25,000 seats are available for admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs collectively.
With so many students trying to capture these limited number of seats, there may arise a situation where you give it your best shot but still somehow fall a little short of attaining the required score. However, that doesn’t necessarily mark the end of your aspirations in the field of engineering, there are a number of options open for you that you can choose from and have a successful career ahead.
Here are 5 options that are open to you after JEE Mains:

    1. Try for admissions in NITs:

Every engineering student aspires to make the cut for an IIT seat, but sometimes the competition is just too intense. You shouldn’t admit defeat; instead, you can apply for admissions in a NIT. Most NITs are on par with IITs and it is a better alternative than wasting an entire year and reappearing for JEE Main next year in the hopes of gaining admissions in an IIT.

    1. Apply to IIITs, GFTIs, and Government Colleges:

You can try and visit a student counsellor after JEE Mains results if you are confused about what to do next. However, any counsellor worth his or her salt will tell you that after IITs and NITs, applying to IIITs, GFTIs, and government colleges is your best option. All of these institutes produce exceptional professionals every year. You could be one of those professionals if you don’t lose time and apply to these institutes.

    1. Consider Attempting Other Engineering Exams:

Even though JEE Mains is one of the most popular engineering entrance exams nationwide, it is not the only option you have. There are a number of State and University level exams that you can appear for to pursue a career in engineering. MHT-CET is one such example of these highly reputed exams. It is wise to have a backup plan of this sort so that you do not end up wasting any time after the JEE Mains results.

    1. Reappear for JEE Mains:

If you are firm in your resolve to join an IIT, then you can reappear for JEE Mains. You are permitted to attempt the exam twice. Now that you have the necessary coaching and experience in attempting the exam you can strengthen your focus and reappear for the exam by preparing for them on your own. Of course, you can always seek additional help and enrol yourself for some sort of coaching if you feel like you need some extra help.

    1. Consider Applying to Private Universities:

Over the last few years, there are a number of excellent private universities with comprehensive curriculums where you can apply. Some of these universities have their own entrance exams so it is best to make the necessary inquires when seeking admission. Private universities offer students a high quality education, one that rivals IITs and MITs across the nation.

Sandip University is one such educational hub where you can attain a world class education. With state-of-the-art facilities and an outcome based curriculum, Sandip School of Engineering & Technology is the right place for you to pursue a degree in engineering.
